The Spanish justice seizes the racist songs towards Vinicius. the Justice Spanish announced on Friday that it had opened an investigation against supporters of Atletico Madrid, accused of having sung racist chants towards Real Madrid’s Brazilian winger, Vinicius Junior, during Sunday’s derby between the two clubs.
This investigation, opened after a complaint filed by an anti-racism association, is aimed at the chants against the player “heard outside and inside” the Atlético stadium, the Madrid Prosecutor’s Office announced in a press release.

According to the prosecution, the investigation must determine if there were “other episodes with a racist connotation” against the player “inside the stadium.” In this context, information will be requested “from the security services” of Atlético, “which could help clarify the facts,” explains the press release.
During the derby won by Real Madrid (2-1), the Atlético fans chanted “You’re a monkey, Vinicius, you’re a monkey” before and during the match. Projectiles, including lighters, were also thrown at the player and fellow Brazilian Rodrygo.
